Inter-University Council of Ohio Thanks Ohio Senate and House Approval for Continued Investment
In Ohio’s Public Universities Through Release of Additional CARES Act Funding
[Columbus]: Bruce Johnson, president of the Inter-University Council of Ohio (IUC), issued the following statement today regarding the State Controlling Board’s approval of just over $75 million to be used for necessary expenditures incurred by the state’s public institutions of higher education due to the public health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. This continued financial support to Ohio’s public universities through the release of additional CARES Act funding will be used for critical services, including testing and mental health services.
“The IUC greatly appreciates the Ohio General Assembly’s strong support for Ohio’s Public Universities. Especially, Senate President Larry Obhof and House Speaker Robert Cupp who worked with the Administration to secure these items on the controlling board agenda for consideration. The IUC would like to thank President Obhof and Speaker Cupp and all the members of the state controlling board who made the release of these funds possible.
Because of their support, hard work, and the action taken today to approve these requests, Ohio’s public universities will now have additional resources to help comply with the health measures necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19 on campus, making both our campuses and our communities a healthier and safer place to study and live. We look forward to continuing to provide world class educational opportunities to all Ohioans during these challenging times and are fortunate to have great Leaders and members in the Ohio Senate and House who consistently continue to support our public universities to help us do that.”
