Ohio’s Public Universities Thank Governor DeWine and the Ohio Legislature for Capital Bill Funding

[Columbus]: The Inter-University Council of Ohio (IUC) today said the state’s support for its public universities is once again evident through the funding appropriated in the capital appropriations bill, House Bill 687, passed on June 1 by the Ohio House and Senate. The bill provides much needed state support for high-priority public university infrastructure projects on campus to help maintain the facilities where students live and are educated.
“The need for capital investment in Ohio’s public university campuses and infrastructure is significant,” said Bruce Johnson, President & CEO of the Inter-University Council. “On behalf of Ohio’s fourteen public universities and our 300,000 students, we appreciate the funding made available for capital projects during this FY23-24 period by Governor DeWine and passed by the Ohio General Assembly.”
“With these funds, we will make every effort to maintain the investments the state already has made in existing facilities, continue to offer world-class programs, and increase Ohio’s competitive advantage by capitalizing on our existing strengths,” Johnson continued.
The funds used to renovate and rehabilitate dorms, lecture halls, and laboratories on public university campuses will help Ohio’s public universities fulfill the mission of providing a high-quality, high-value education and experience to all students as those institutions strive together with state leaders to meet Ohio’s workforce needs. The IUC commends Governor DeWine and General Assembly for their support.
